Big Shots Georgia Stars Tournament, Saturday April 7, 2012
Atlanta, Georgia-The Big Shots Georgia Stars Tournament was one of the opening tournaments of the summer club travel season, there were many of the top programs from around the Southeast, United States on display looking to make an early statement.
Spotlight Players:
2013 6’9 PF Jarquez Smith Jones County, Georgia (Georgia Stars): Jarquez has a great combination of size and athleticism; he is one of the more polished big men around the country, Jarquez is a face up forward that can consistently shoot the ball from 3-point, high post, and the short corner. He is a good straight line ball handler and excellent passer out of the post. Jarquez stock will shoot up over the summer if he continues to play the way he has recently
2013 5’10 PG Randell Smith Archer, Georiga, (Southern Select): Extremely quick guard that does a good job of changing speed and direction, fearless competitor that attacks the basket well using his speed to beat the defender off the dribble, Randell has been receiving interest from low major programs around the county
2013 6’2 SG Delano Spencer Greater Atlanta Christian (GA): Spencer is a scorer that showed the ability to consistently knock down shots from the perimeter, he has a strong body that allows him to muscle his way into the lane against defenders and to separate space to get his shot off.
Closing Remarks
There was a lot of young talent on display at the Big Shots Georgia Stars Tournament, there were a couple players in particular that caught my attention, 2015 PF Noah Dickerson (Georgia Stars) played well throughout the tournament he is already drawing interest from several high major programs. 2014 SF Andre Chatfield (Georgia Stars) was one of the more consistent players for the Stars 16U crew, he played with great confidence, I expect him to have a good summer
